About the Director(s)

The love-grandchild of Lily Tomlin, Pee Wee Herman, and Mr. Peanut, Eliza Bent is a playwright and performer who creates Bentertainments: stories and performance texts that are left of center and chalk full of puns. Hailed in Time Out New York as "This generation's answer to Amy Sederis" Bent's shows include solo-ish works ("Karen", "IToilet Fire and Aloha", "Aloha, or When I Was Queen"), plays ("Indeed, friend!", "On a Clear Day I Can See to Elba", "The Hotel Colors"), adaptations ("The Beyonce", "She of the Voice"), and hybrid affairs ("Real Talk / Kip Talk, Blue Wizard / Black Wizard, Pen Pals Meet"). Bent’s shows have been developed, workshopped, and produced at the Abrons Arts Center, JACK, the New Ohio, the Atlantic Theatre, the Bushwick Starr and New York Theatre Workshop’s Next Door Series. Residencies with SPACE on Ryder Farm, New Georges, Target Margin Institute Fellow, MacDowell Colony Fellow, Casa Zia Lina, and Pilot Balloon. As an actor Bent has performed in pint-sized New York theatres, regionally in Omaha and Louisville, and toured internationally. Bent has a BA in philosophy and an MFA in playwriting from Brooklyn College where she teaches creative writing. Bent also speaks Italian. Ciao for now.

FINDING FILMAN

A documentary team follows a delusional soft-core porn actor who seeks to cross over into the mainstream acting world. Regis Filman is a soft core porn actor who has recently been submitted for consideration for an AVN Award for his performance in an adult film entitled 'The Buttler’. The potential nomination leads him to believe that he is ‘more’ than just a soft core star and he seeks to 'cross over' into the mainstream performance world by showcasing his skills as a ‘method actor’. When the AVN nomination doesn’t go as planned Regis must rely on help from his roommate JAKE and the rest of his friends to keep him focused on his method acting dreams.

HEADPRICKLES

If you are being bothered by intrusive thoughts, such as: How many plastic bags are optimal for packing one banana?; What ensures victory in the skeleton competition?; Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going? Or Should I shower with my socks on? Will I face any consequences?--then - that's great! “Headprickles” will give you an answer to at least one of these questions. The film consists of over a dozen animated enigrams connected by the motif of being trapped in a loop of absurdity. In visually colorful labyrinth of observations, the protagonists try to make sense of nonsense - or they stay mindlessly in it. HEADPRICKLES probably won’t change the world, will not cause a shock or a revolution, but - maybe – it will make audience’s heads a little itchy during the projection?
