HAIL MARY is a genre-bending retelling of the Mary and Joseph story that begs the question – who are the real monsters? Maria is a 17-year-old girl from Belize who finds herself mysteriously pregnant. We find her walking, following the north star, to safety across the US/Mexican border. She’s trying to escape a deadly virus and being chased by the right-hand man of the devil (Baal). Along the way she meets Jose, a mediocre carpenter who happens to have helped build a tunnel under the Rio Grande for the Cartels. As they join forces with Gabrielle (the Angel Gabriel), the cartels and US Border Patrol join the chase. This subliminally subversive monster movie might just have unexpected fans cheering for an undocumented pregnant migrant to make it safely across the US Border. Plays with THE WOLF'S LAMENT (3 min) by Scott Cardona, the story of what happens when a new neighbor moves into the woods and disrupts the wolf's week.
About the Director(s)
Rosemary’s upcoming feature is HAIL MARY, starring Jack Huston and Angela Serafyan, had its world premiere at SXSW 2023, where it was named One of the Best Horror Films. She also wrote and directed the Sundance feature "Acts of Worship", which was nominated for 2 Independent Spirit Awards and received a glowing New York Times review. Her second feature, "Silver Skies", executive produced by Fred Roos and Arthur Sarkissian, went on to many festival awards, including the Audience Award at FLIFF. Most recently, Rosemary directed the series finale of Showtime’s "Your Honor" with Bryan Cranston; and James Gunn’s "Peacemaker" for HBOMax. Past episodes include "Dickinson" with Hailee Steinfeld, "The Walking Dead", Marvel/Netflix series "Jessica Jones", Apple’s "Truth Be Told", starring Octavia Spencer, "The Tick", "The Good Wife" (18 episodes, including the 100th). She was Executive Producer/Director on Apple’s "Home Before Dark", with Brooklynn Prince, and Producing Director on Jason Katim’s "Rise".
